چکیده

A. Ga-67 is a group IIIA metal which has been used for imaging a variety of solid neoplasms for more than 25 yr. B . Ga-67 imaging of neoplastic disease has shown the greatest utility in imaging lymphoma. The guideline will concentrate on the use of this technique in lymphoma although the technical aspects of image collection and processing may be applied to the imaging of other neoplastic diseases. C. Ga-67 has proven useful in the management of patients with lymphoma for: 1. Staging the extent of disease; 2. Detecting relapse or progression of disease; 3. Determining response to therapy; 4. Predicting outcome. D . Meaningful compilation of sensitivity and specificity for imaging lymphoma is difficult because of differences in technique, differences in reporting the data regarding the number of lesions detected, or the number of cases detected, and variations in nomenclature and reporting of histopathology. Further, most “gallium avid” lesions are not examined by biopsy.

Sensitivity of gallium scintigraphy for evaluation of recurrent lymphoma: Comparison of planar and SPECT imaging

Introduction: Although PET scanning using F-18[FDG] is considered the superior radiotracer for tumnor imaging, Gallium-67 is still in use for some malignancies such as lymphoma and hepatoma. One of the strategies to improve the diagnostic accuracy of Gallium is to perform SPECT which is reported to be more sensitive compared to planar imaging. In this study we compa...

Comparison between early and delayed images of 67Ga scintigraphy for evaluation of recurrent lymphoma

Introduction: Despite widespread use of 67Gallium for lymphoma evaluation, timing of imaging after injection is a matter of controversy and to the extent of our knowledge no direct comparison has been made between early and delayed gallium images. We aimed to compare 24 and 48 hours post injection planar gallium imaging for evaluation of lymphoma recurrence. Methods: 255 pa...

Evaluation of ِdiagnostic role of 99mTc-Tetrofosmin scintigraphy in cold thyroid nodules [Persian]

Introduction: Various radiopharmaceuticals, including 67Ga, 201Tl, and 99mTc-sestamibi have been used to differentiate benign from malignant thyroid nodules. 99mTc-Tetrofosmin, a lipophilic cationic radiotracer, and 99mTc-sestamibi have also been reported to accumulate in thyroid tumors. In this study, we evaluated the role of 99mTc-Tetrofosmin in the differentiation of malignant from ben...

Incidental thyroid uptake during 99mTc-methylene diphosphonate bone scintigraphy in oncologic patients

Introduction: Extraosseous accumulation of 99mTc – methylene diphosphonate (MDP) may be due to neoplastic, dystrophic, hormonal, inflammatory, ischemic, traumatic or excretory disorders. 99mTc-MDP incidental thyroid uptake is not frequent and is possibly caused by the presence of dystrophic or metastatic calcification, biopsy procedure and presence of beni...

Role of hepatobiliary scintigraphy in bile leak diangnosis [Persian]

Hepatobiliary scintigraphy is a sensitive method for intra & extera hepatic bile leak diagnosis. Bile lead may be seen after hepatobiliary surgery, trauma, inflammatory disease or malignant neoplasms. Although sonography and CT scanning are useful for diagnosis of peritoneal or perihepatic fluid, they cannot prove bile ascites. Hepatobiliary scintigraphy with Tc-99m-IDA agents is a physio...
